Soft Rock Phosphate

R45.00

Description

Soft Rock Phosphate is a slow release fertilizer providing plants with phosphorous, calcium and various other micro elements. Mined from sedimentary rock deposits,

The total phosphorus content amounts to 8-10% P – expressed as tri-calcium phosphate – 63% of the product is in this form. By repeated extraction all of it is soluble in 2% citric acid. As an indication of the immediately available fraction, the first extraction dissolves 5% P.

Soft Rock Phosphate contains 20% calcium. Because of the linkage of phosphorus with calcium, its neutralizing effect increases by the amount of phosphorus that becomes available and is taken up. The remainder of calcium is in the form of carbonates and silicates.

With the exception of cobalt (Co) which is more important to animals, rock phosphate provides essential iron (Fe), sulphur (S), magnesium (Mg), molybdenum (Mo) and zinc (Zn). All of them contribute in supplementing soil reserves where rock phosphates is a regular part of the fertilization program.

Soft Rock Phosphate Typical Analysis:

  • Phosphorus (P) – 8-10%
  • Calcium(Ca) –  20%
  • Sulphur(S) –  0.145%
  • Magnesium(Mg) – 1.30%
  • Iron(Fe) – 0.73%
  • Manganese(Mn) – 9mg/kg
  • Coper(Cu) – 3mg/kg
  • Zink(Zn) – 13mg/kg
  • Molybdenum(Mo) – <10mg/kg
  • Boron(B) – 0.8mg/kg
  • Fluoride(F) – 0.76mg/kg

Application Rates:

  • Potted Plants – 1-2 Tbsp/20L substrate

Larger producers should test soil for phosphorous levels prior to application. Results will determine application rates. Soil analysis should be completed after application.
