Description
Delfin is a biological caterpillar insecticide safe for all fruiting and flowering crops. The active ingredient is
Bacillus thuringiensis (BT), sub-species kurstaki (Btk), a naturally occurring spore forming bacteria.
Activated by the high pH in the gut of the target pest, BT spores produce toxic “crystalized proteins.” These toxins then bind to receptors in the gut, rupturing cells in the process. The pest’s digestive system shuts down and the larvae stops eating, starving to death. Humans and other non target animals either don’t possess a high pH in the gut or the receptors. As a result, they are not affected by BT. When used as directed, BT is safe for earthworms, lacewings, predatory beetles, parasitic wasps and the environment.
Apply Delfin biological caterpillar insecticide to various fruiting and flowering crops. Apply to crops at the first sight of larvae, re-applying weekly.
BT may be taken up by plant roots and translocated throughout the plant, making the leaves toxic to moth caterpillars.
