The Lumii BLACK 600W Electronic Ballast is supplied as a stand-alone ballast with a flying IEC lead. This allows you to use any reflector fitted with an IEC socket to start growing. The ballast features both dim and boost functions, having the ability to control the light output from the lamp. There are two dimmable options, 250w & 400w. There is also a ‘super-lumens’ boost option which is on average an extra 10% increase in output. THIS BALLAST CAN BE USED TO DRIVE THE BLACK 720W LED FIXTURE! The LUMii BLACK 600W Electronic Ballast can be used with any 600w HID lamp. However we recommend using a LUMii SunBlaster 600W or LUMii BLACK 600W HPS lamp for the best results.

What is a ballast?

A ballast is the electrical component comprising of an ignition, choke and capacitors housed in a box. These are necessary to run and light a HID lamp. In a fluorescent lighting system, the ballast regulates the current to the lamps and provides sufficient voltage to start the lamps. During lamp starting, the ballast must briefly supply high voltage to establish an arc between the two lamp electrodes. The ballast quickly reduces voltage and regulates electric current to produce a steady light output once illuminated. Warnings: The LUMii BLACK 600W Electronic Ballast powers lights known as High Intensity Discharge, or HID lights. These kinds of lights give off large amounts of heat. The lamp itself becomes extremely hot and stays hot. Never, ever touch the bulb when it is on or has been on. When using an HPS or Metal Halide lamp for the first time, leave the lamp on for at least an hour.
